The front of my little cottage

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Well I have waited 16 years for a picket fence and it is finally happening. It looks so nice and then I want to get some little iron gates of some description we have been looking for old ones that would suit for so long but as yet no luck... I have photos of these very special roses in my front garden that were cuttings from my Nannas garden so extremely special to me....and in the second last photo there is a playful little bee finding some sweet nectar....I have also started to paint the 3 lots of double doors across the front of the house as they were dark reddish brown, very yucky...Not sure what I will put on the verandah as far as furniture yet.... Any ideas are more then welcome and I am still on the look out for some nice light fittings as well. Heaps and heaps of work on at the moment and I am sorry that I haven't been posting as much.... Take care and have a great rest of your week,,,, Will have some photos of my new lounge room mirror and bedroom in the next few days....

Thank you for visiting my little blog!
You should be able to get Madison Living from Dymocks (do you have that in your state?), but I've also seen it at some newsagents, and if all else fails you can order it online at magshop.com.au

  9. Your cottage is darling. I'm glad you finally have the picket fence you have longed for. I remember several years ago how happy I was when I was finally able to build a picket fence. They add so much visually to a house. The roses are lovely. It's wonderful to have special memories to go with them.

  11. Your house is looking so lovely Cathy. We pass it when we go across to Highfields to shop.
Such a gorgeous rose. I know my niece in Toowoomba has moved house several times in the past 11 years and has always dug up and taken her Mum's(my Dear Sister's)roses with her each time and they're still thriving. I have plants given to me by special friends and Family members and I always think of them when I'm out in the garden. I name the plants after them as well - My clump of Uncle Fred (a beautiful white lily) has finished flowering for the year. A good friend of mine has done this in Kingsthorpe also. She has a red eremophila that I bought for her birthday back in the 80s and this plant has a huge girth now - just like me. LOL

  12. Looks fabulous! Love the roses and lavender. I too have been waiting sooo long for my picket fence. I bought a faux rust finish setting from Bunnings that looks really sweet near the french doors on the verandah.
