Elements of my Kitchen

Friday, January 30, 2009

Well as you all know my kitchen isn't exactly how I would have it as it is dark honey coloured timber throughout but I must say it still has some cool elements so I will share different bits that I like over the next couple of posts....Hard to get clear photos in there though, as it is so dark...I love old linens, silverware, nice glasses and glassware and elements with history... This little table is made from an old sewing machine base that was my Nannas and has a piece of marble sitting on top from Mum's kitchen, also some of mum's old recipe books.....

It becomes extra meaningful when you know the history behind things.

(Even if the kitchen's dark wood, perhaps the cabinets could be painted with your hubbie's good will? Or the ceiling? The contrasts would lift each other.)

    Your kids are lovely.
    And your Valentines too.

  23. Yes, like everyone else Cathy, I was touched with the way you've used pieces that have great meaning to you & have belonged to those you've loved. I experience that too when I open up some of my kitchen cupboards - eggs cups from my Granny's that I used to eat from as a little girl, a jug that my Mum & Granny both used to serve yummy runny custard from on pudding days - just the sweetest memories.
