a 2025 manifesto - colour outside the lines, explore the city that never sleeps, hold the vision, trust the process and dream with your eyes wide open - always. - emma kate co.
Almost 10 years ago, now I came across Emma, using her beautiful calligraphy to make cards + for someone that adores stationery, it was love at first sight. I have followed this incredibly, talented human's creative business over the years and been lucky enough to sell her beautiful products in my store. A few years ago, Emma spent a couple of days with my daughter + myself, staying in my daughter's studio, which is now my atelier space. Emma instantly felt like family. Her genuine, kind nature, free spirit, and joy for adding beauty to the everyday through her art, spending time with her was like a dream come true. When stock arrives from Emma Kate Co. every exquisite detail makes you smile and feel hugged all at once, just like the designer behind the brand. Let us get to know her a little better with my five favourite questions.
1. If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
I would say... Intentional.
2. What inspires you the most?
Kindness. Unexpected kindness, random acts of; both simple acts and extravagant, unbounded displays of it, beautiful kindness.
And, of course, travel. The stories we get to live, the ways of life we get to witness, experience and revel in, the beauty of the world.
3. Black, white, all things earthy or are you more of a colour person…which would you choose and why?
I am definitely a neutral, earthy girl. My favourite colour is just the right shade of cream. Warm toned, buttery, delicate and timeless.
4. If you could rearrange the furniture in one room of your house, what room would it be and why?
Definitely my home office! Since we rearranged the rooms in our home to accommodate a nursery for the arrival of our daughter earlier this year, our study has felt temporary, incomplete and not so conducive to creativity. I crave a beautiful writing desk, overlooking the window - a space all of my own to slip into and create whenever the muse calls.
5. Favourite quote or quotes?
If it's meant for you, it won't miss you.
And...
